However, shortly thereafter, Katie was accepted at Creighton University, School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska. Many said the long distance thing wouldn’t work, but Katie and Jalin still found a way to see each other at least once a month - thank you Ron McKinnon for your Frontier points. After graduation, and COVID, Jalin and Katie moved into their first place together where they spent way too much money on Star Wars lego builds and enjoyed every moment of putting them together, apart from the Star Wars At-At Walker, which remains the most annoying and fragile contraption ever.

2023 was a big year in the McKinnon/Delmonico home! In October, they purchased their first home in Aurora. In November they lost their long time fur baby, Archer. On December 25, 2023, after 7 years together, Jalin popped the question to Katie in front of her family and a beautiful Christmas tree. Then in January 2024, they adopted a pup and named her Annabelle.

Throughout their years together, Jalin and Katie learned to love, respect, and support each other and function like a a true team. During trial madness, Jalin steps up and takes care of the home, pets, and Katie if necessary. Throughout football season, Katie takes over home and pet needs, and shows up to every game - apart from that one really bad snow game or that one that was three hours away. Together, the two have learned to balance each other out, understanding the needs of the other and always uplifting each other. They find something to laugh at every day and experience so much love and joy in the little family they have created, along with their wonderful families that support them through thick and thin. Now with their little family in their new home, they take their next step and level up their relationship!
